A Christmas Poem
‘Twas the night before Christmas
And all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring
Not even a mouse.
The cat, it was snoring
All happy and gay
The children were sleeping
Just dreaming away.
The fire was dying,
Having been so alight
Keeping our dear family
Quite warm through the night.
The Christmas tree sparkled,
But it did not make a noise
As plants are quite silent
Like soft cuddly toys.
The walls were now resting
After listening to a lot
Of talks, conversations,
Secrets and what-not.
So I think now you get it
There wasn’t any sound
To be heard in the house
From the roof to the ground.
But “ting-ting-a-ling-ding”
Was then heard through the air
No, ‘twas not Santa,
But a bell on the last stair.
You see, poor dad tripped
On the bell that he’d placed
In a really stupid location
And forgot in his haste.
Dad was all sneaky,
Tip-toey tonight
Putting presents out for Christmas
To his daughters’ delight.
For Lucy, they’d bought
A pink pogo-stick
(They didn’t know that pink stuff
Would make poor Lucy thick).
For Tara, they’d bought
A small Shetland pony
(Though what Tara wanted
Was to ride her guy, Tony).
For Flora they’d bought
A nice little book
And a brown guinea pig
And a toy Captain Hook.
Edina-Telores was lucky
- Got a good mobile phone
With a touchscreen and a camera
Useful to call home!
(No, she wasn’t E.T.
She was going to uni
In under a year.
She’ll be missed by her family!)
As he placed the last box
Neatly under the tree
He looked out through the window.
What could he see?
He saw the garden
And the driveway of tar
And then saw a man
Coming out of a car.
The man gave three knocks
On the quiet house’s door.
Dad opened it slowly.
There was snow on the floor.
“I’ve come,” said the man
“With an important warning,
To warn of a snow storm
That we’ll soon be having”
“Oh dear!” Said father
“Will it be bad?”
“Yes!” Said the man,
Before he said “bye” to dad.
He went into his Audi
And started the engine
And said quietly “God I wish
I had an Aston Martin”
But I heard him exclaim,
As he drove out of sight,
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL,
AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT!
Hah :) Just a little something I wrote in my boredommmmm :).
